The Psychiatric Technician plays a vital role in the mental health care team, providing essential support to patients experiencing psychiatric disorders. This position involves working closely with individuals in various settings, including hospitals, corrections facilities, and community health organizations. The technician is responsible for monitoring patient behavior, assisting with daily activities, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and support to individuals with psychiatric conditions.
- Monitor patient behavior and report any changes to the healthcare team.
- Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient interactions.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure compliance with medication protocols.
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive patient outcomes.
- Participate in treatment planning and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Conduct patient observations to assess mental status and emotional well-being.
- Support patients in daily living activities, fostering independence and dignity.
Skills
- Strong understanding of psychiatry principles and practices.
- Proficiency in crisis intervention techniques and acute care management.
- Experience working with people with disabilities and diverse populations.
- Knowledge of behavioral health concepts and patient observation techniques.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and documentation standards.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality while managing sensitive medical records.
- Experience in a hospital setting or corrections facility medical clinic is preferred.
- Background in nursing or related healthcare fields is advantageous.

Job Type: Contract
Pay: $29.00 - $33.00 per hour
