About Job
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with school staff and administration, including principals, teachers, and other service providers
- Collaborate with fellow FACE Coordinator and counselors at the schools
- Serve as a financial aid, scholarship, and postsecondary advisor to students and parents
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver workshops on topics including ACT/SAT preparation, financial literacy, life skills, career and education planning, etc.
- Conduct presentations at various outreach events including college fairs, plan, coordinate and conduct summer activities, Saturday, and evening workshops
- Conduct one-on-one and small group advising sessions with students
- Assist with the implementation and coordination of the Next Step Plan for the Senior Class
- Assist and refer interested parties in attaining GED’s
- Plan and/or coordinate in-school college representative visits and campus visit
- Raise student awareness and participation in the Kick Start Scholarship program
- Collect and report accurate data on services provided, maintain accurate student data
- Some scheduled evening and weekend work is required
- Other duties as assigned
- Follow district and school procedures
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be comfortable with public speaking
- Must possess strong organization skills, be detail oriented, accurate and timely with assigned tasks
- Must demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, work both independently and within a team, facilitate effective collaboration, and resolve conflict
- Must be proficient with technology including database, various software programs, internet tools, and communication tools
- Must possess a sense of humor, tolerance for change, and a demonstrated ability to create a positive culture and sense of empowerment for students/families
- Must have access to reliable transportation to travel to off-site meetings and professional development opportunities
- Accept other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the principal
Equipment/Technology Handled: Computer, phone, and copy machine skills.Work Environment: Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision. After hour work may be required.Terms of Employment: Salary and work calendar established yearly by school board. All candidates are subject to a Criminal Background Investigation prior to any offer of employment.
