Your Impact Here at MBC
- Implement individualized ABA-based programs using strategies, not limited to, Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Learn Unit instruction, Task Analysis, probe data collection, and Natural Environment Teaching (NET).
- Accurately collect and record program and behavior data, including but not limited to aggression, self-injurious behavior (SIB), property destruction, elopement, and stereotypy.
- Apply evidence-based interventions to reduce interfering behaviors and teach appropriate replacement skills.
- Engage in crisis management strategies—such as physical holds, transports, or disengagement techniques—immediately, safely, and correctly when a child is at risk of harming themselves or others. These interventions are only to be used after staff have completed the required training, but once trained, responding promptly and appropriately in moments of crisis is a critical responsibility of this role.
- Prepare teaching materials and set up the learning environment prior to each session to ensure smooth and effective instruction.
- Collaborate closely with other ABA therapists, BCBAs, and related service providers to implement student-specific behavior and learning plans.
- Promptly communicate any concerns, challenges, or observations to the assigned BCBA Case Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor to support the success of the students and the center
Support Expectations
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor to support the success of the students and the center
- This position requires a high level of flexibility. You may be assigned to one primary team or, depending on the needs of the center, float across multiple teams throughout the year. You may also be asked to support different children across the day or week, sometimes with little notice.
- While you will receive a thorough and structured onboarding and training sequence, it is important to understand that our center operates in a dynamic environment where client needs and coverage requirements can shift rapidly. As such, there may be times when you are asked to support a child or team you have not yet been formally trained on.
- Please know that support will always be available to you. You will have access to On-Call clinical guidance, and case managers and senior team members will be present on-site at various levels throughout the day to assist. Training will always continue—deviations from the original onboarding timeline are not a reflection of decreased support, but rather a reflection of the adaptable, fast-paced nature of our center.
- At our center, we do not place time limits on how long a therapist may work with a client. Instead, session duration is guided by the individual needs of each client, clinical best practices, and the therapist’s capacity. We prioritize client-centered care while being mindful of staff well-being and burnout.
- Therapists should be prepared to support clients for varying session lengths based on daily schedules, client needs, and overall team coordination. While we make efforts to minimize excessively long sessions, flexibility is essential in this role. On-site clinical support is available and may be accessed during sessions when needed to ensure quality care and staff support.
- Staff in this role must be able to work independently and maintain a professional, approachable, and friendly demeanor in both home and clinic settings.
Fieldwork Experience Hours
As part of your role, you will have the opportunity to accrue supervised fieldwork hours in alignment with BACB and MBC requirements. We are committed to maintaining compliance with all BACB standards; however, we cannot guarantee hours beyond the required minimum
Fieldwork hours will only begin accruing after a successful evaluation period, which includes:
- A 30-business-day working period
- Completion of a self-evaluation form
- A supervisor evaluation form
- A comparison and review meeting
Requirements
- Enrollment in or completion of a Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)-approved or verified course sequence in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
- Direct experience working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) using ABA principles and strategies. This includes implementing behavior intervention plans, supporting skill acquisition programs, and working within structured teaching models under the supervision of a BCBA.
