SUMMARY
The Education, College, Career & Scholarship Counselor serves students and families, by providing resources which focus on the major aspects of the career counseling and college planning/placement process and scholarship opportunities. With a goal of 100% college acceptance, the Education, College, Career & Scholarship Counselor works in coordination with each youth and other members of the YouthSource team and Brotherhood Crusade Directors, as well as with the school administration, to assist scholars in discovering their strengths and interests, exploring career alternatives, and finding institutions of higher learning which will meet these interests, strengths and values. The ECCSC will provide support to students in their exploration of career alternatives and help them understand the college application process. The ECCSC will also design and direct program activities to assist students with college planning in 10th-12th grades including academic preparation for college, meeting both graduation and college acceptance requirements, college searches, school and financial aid application, scholarship searches, testing, recommendations, and transition to college.
This role would also entail execution of the YouthSource and Brotherhood Crusade Trauma Informed Youth Development model scope of work, and the Trauma-Informed Youth Development initiative as instructed and directed by the organization with respect to administration and implementation of all youth development, prevention programming, program development and executing all facets of scholarship opportunities for program participants. This includes monitoring and evaluation of programming, recruitment, administration of pre- and post-assessments, publicity, processing scholar application, renewal applications, special projects to engage scholars, processing scholarship checks, and data collection.
The ECCSC will conduct at a minimum monthly check-in with scholars, communicating with scholars about internships and career development opportunities, ensuring that updated grades are tracked, provide support to scholars if in need of supportive services, process scholars checks, plan a minimum of two events a year that will bring all the scholars together.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Attend meetings, workshops, trainings and events.
2. Administer initial enrollment, prepare youth development plan as well as receive scholarships applications.
3. Meet key stakeholders, create and distribute publicity materials, deliver presentations, follow-up with stakeholders and manage referrals.
4. Administer and submit pre-, mid, and post-assessments, assimilate, review, correct data and, as appropriate and present data results to key stakeholders.
5. Advocate for the youth and ensure their receipt of culturally- and age-appropriate trauma- informed youth development services for themselves and their families.
6. Work with the youth and their family to access necessary services and resources from Brotherhood Crusade and its collaborative partners (service providers).
7. Maintain and update, as necessary, youth development plan. Prepare and facilitate program schedules. Report all activity in a timely manner.
8. Retrieve necessary documentation that provides, academic results, progress reports and surveys from the youth’s school, parents, and social affiliations.
9. Input observations, exercise results, notes, and other pertinent data into tracking system.
10. Report issues, incidents, or problems to the youth’s parents/caregivers and administration.
11. Interact with the youth’s school, parents/caregivers, and role models.
12. Meet with college scholars and facilitate monthly check-ins to ensure scholars are on track to graduate and have the resources to succeed academically and address any life challenges that may occur.
13. Process applications -determine appropriate funding amount and payment schedule and disburse scholarship/grant funds.
14. Assist with the Advanced Studies application and interview process.
15. Plan and coordinate all events for Advanced Studies students.
16. Conduct outreach and provide education in the community to recruit potential scholarship applicants.
17. Conduct academic action plans with scholars who are below a cumulative GPA of 2.5.
18. Conduct home and college visits, as necessary.
19. Attend college readiness workshops, webinars, or meetings as it relates to institutional updates.
20. Ensure all college scholars are engaged in Brotherhood Crusade programming.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid California Driver's License.
Due to our in-person and in office work with LAUSD, City of LA, County of LA and other work partners that require our team to be vaccinated we require that all potential candidates must be COVID-19 vaccinated with either, Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson.
WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND EQUIPMENT USED
The successful candidate will be required to report to and work from the office complex at least five days a week. Offices are traditionally equipped with computers, telephones, desks, chairs, and office machines. Additionally, each office offers an instructional classroom from which orientations and trainings are conducted.
SALARY RANGE:
Benefits and salary will be negotiated based on experience, education, and the needs of the program.

Must be available to work Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday from 9:00am – 5:30pm and Wednesdays from 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm
There may be occurrences when a work or community event occurs on Saturday and/or Sunday. Your work schedule will be flexed to accommodate this change and you will be notified in advance.
