About Job

Francis Marion University invites applications for a Student Services Counselor in the Financial AssistanceOffice whose duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Counsels students regarding Financial Assistance.
- Ensures that financial aid support and information are being disseminated to prospective, incoming, and current students.
- Performs data entry, document tracking, and updates in student data system.

- Evaluates applications for student financial aid, processes documentation as it is received and performs manual analyses of need as necessary.

- Represents Financial Assistance at events both on and off campus and conducts financial assistance workshops for students.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and institutional guidelines concerning financial assistance.
- Ensures accuracy of all student records.
- Awards federal, state, and private grants, loans, and work programs within specified guidelines, ensuring updates are made to reflect issuance of aid.

- Supports the daily operation of the Financial Assistance office.
State Requirement:A bachelors degree.
FMU Requirements:strong written and oral communication skills; ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot solutions; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; ability to interact confidently with the public and with colleagues from various offices.
FMUPreferences:previous work experience in higher education; previous work experience in a Financial Assistance office; an understanding of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA); knowledge of Federal and State Financial Aid policies; at least three years experience in data processing; experience with MS Office Suite; experience with Ellucian (Colleague) or similar student information system. The successful candidate will discuss in their Letter of Interest how they meet the preferred requirements for this position.

Paygrade:GEN06
Salary:$37,200
Normal Working Hours:8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Monday - Friday). Summer hours will vary.
