Position Summary
The Behavior Technician (BT) delivers direct 1:1 behavioral intervention services to individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) under the supervision of a Clinical Team Lead. The BT implements individualized treatment plans that promote skill development, reduce challenging behaviors, and support functional independence. Services are based on research-based behavioral methodologies.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Service Delivery
- Implement treatment goals and behavior intervention plans as written by the Clinical Team Lead.
- Utilize evidence-based strategies, including but not limited to:
- Discrete Trial Training (DTT)
- Natural Environment Teaching (NET)
- Functional Communication Training (FCT)
- Positive Behavior Support (PBS) strategies
- Visual supports, prompting, reinforcement systems
- Differential reinforcement, extinction protocols
- Conduct skill acquisition programs focused on communication, social skills, self-care, and adaptive functioning.
- Apply proactive and reactive strategies tailored to the function of the client’s behavior.
Behavioral Data Collection and Documentation
- Accurately collect and record data on targeted behaviors and skill acquisition during each session.
- Complete detailed service notes for every date of service, including:
- Date, time, location, and duration of service
- Description of intervention delivered
- Assessment of client response and progress
- Signature and job title of the technician
- Maintain documentation
Supervision and Training
- Participate in regular supervision and fidelity checks conducted by a Clinical Team Lead (including in-person and telehealth observation).
- Integrate feedback from supervisory sessions to improve service quality.
- Maintain active status by completing required competency-based training and re-training
Caregiver and Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with family members and caregivers to support consistency of treatment strategies across settings.
- Support parent or caregiver implementation of interventions as directed.
- Attend team meetings and contribute to treatment planning and progress reviews.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Completion of a competency-based RB-BHT training program equivalent to BACB Technician minimum hour requirements.
- Experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to service sites.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and reference verification.
Additional Requirements
- Maintain compliance with 10A NCAC 27G.0204 supervision and documentation standards.
- Uphold confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and ethical standards.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed based on client needs.
- Services must not be used for respite, academic tutoring, childcare, or substitute education roles
Work Environment
- Services are provided in home, school, clinic, or community settings, depending on the treatment plan.
- Requires physical activity such as playing, bending, lifting, and engagement with clients in their natural environments.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $52,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
