Mindful Pride is a hybrid nonprofit organization based in Buffalo, NY. We provide individual, family, and group sessions with trained Peer Support Specialists for those who identify with any part of the LGBTQ+ spectrum. Our services also include community events, a podcast, ongoing support, and substance abuse peer counseling. We are dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of the LGBTQ+ community.

Role Description

This is a volunteer role for a Peer Support Specialist. The Peer Support Specialist will be responsible for offering support and guidance to individuals and groups, conducting group sessions, participating in community events, and providing substance abuse counseling. This is a hybrid role, meaning that while the position is based in Buffalo, NY, some work can be done from home.

Qualifications
  • Experience in peer support, counseling, or related fields
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to conduct individual and group sessions
  • Understanding and sensitivity to the LGBTQ+ community
  • Experience in substance abuse peer counseling is a plus
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment with some tasks completed remotely
  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards
