Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of addiction and recovery processes, along with the ability to provide support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. This role involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and facilitating both individual and group therapy sessions. The Substance Abuse Counselor will work collaboratively with clients, their families, and other professionals to promote recovery and improve overall mental health.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the needs of clients struggling with substance abuse.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on client assessments.
  • Provide crisis intervention services as needed to ensure client safety.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage client engagement in the recovery process.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions that promote peer support and shared experiences.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA, DMAS, and DBHDS regulations.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care for clients.
  • Provide family counseling services to support clients' loved ones in understanding addiction and recovery.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to meet evolving needs.

Experience
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in crisis intervention techniques.
  • Proficiency in motivational interviewing strategies.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
  • Background in mental health counseling or related fields.
  • Skills in behavior management techniques for effective client engagement.
  • Experience facilitating group therapy sessions.
  • Understanding of medical records management, including ICD-9 coding for substance abuse diagnoses.
  • Competence in medical documentation practices.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
