We are currently seeking After School Counselors for School-Age Children in Yonkers.

This part-time position is Monday through Friday afternoons from 2:00 pm-6:00 pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervising and engaging with a group of school-age children.

Planning, scheduling, and implementing activities and programs for the children.

Helping children with homework/projects.

Ensure that program operation at the site is smooth, efficient, and compliant with OCFS regulations.

Ensure a healthy environment with well-maintained facilities, equipment, and supplies.

Maintain accurate daily and monthly attendance records for each child.
Follow OCFS policies and procedures related to licensing requirements, medical & disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.

Qualifications

- Must be 18 or older.

- High School Diploma or GED.

- Must pass a full background check through the NYS Office of Children and Family Services, including fingerprinting, references, SEL & SCR.

- Must be medically fit to perform all job duties, free of a communicable disease, including TB, and provide documentation from a licensed physician within the past year.

- Warm, friendly, caring, upbeat personality. Exceptional people skills in dealing with young children, parents, and staff. Professional, reliable, and prompt.

- Must have stamina and physical flexibility (walking, sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, pulling, running, reaching, climbing, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.) without assistance to participate in children’s activities.

- Must have a sincere interest in working with school-age children.

- Previous experience working with children is required

- Ability to communicate and professionally relate to children and adults.

- Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment.

The following certifications are highly desirable:

- Bilingual

- Associates or Higher.
