Under the direct supervision of the clinical director, clinical supervisor and/or designee, provides counseling services including identifying, screening and assessing patients to determine the need for substance abuse services as well as identifying, screening and assessing patients, families and/or significant others who require counseling services for substance use disorders. Responsible for completion of comprehensive assessments including psychosocial, etc. Responsible for providing ongoing orientation about the program and services. Responsible for supervising patient's urine collectionand monitoring patient's substance use/abuse through urine toxicology. Responsible for providin comprehensive case management services, discharge planning, continuing care services education and referrals to appropriate health and human services agencies to ensure continuity and quality of care. Responsible for completing all statistical reports as required by the hospital, department and regulatory agencies. In addition teh counselor is also responsible for providing community education as dictated by department or programmatic needs in accordance with established hospital policy and federal, state an city standards including those established by OASAS, FDA, DEA and NIDA
