About Job

Richmond Behavioral Health is seeking full time REACH Technicians (Adult) for the Crisis Therapeutic Home (CTH) and the Adult Therapeutic Home (ATH). The successful candidates will perform intermediate skilled human support work maintaining the safety of clients, monitoring clients with special needs, coordinating meals, meal preparation and serving clients, facilitating educational groups and clinical , teaching clients coping skills, performing and assisting clients with laundry duties, encouraging clients to adhere to treatment requirements, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the REACH Lead Tech.

Essential Functions

  • Facilitates and leads group activities; implement daily schedule/programming; engages clients.
  • Complete and document all mandated activities accurately, timely, and according to all regulatory requirements for each shift. Activities include, but are not limited to daily groups/activities, interventions, monitoring and shift logs, incident reports, medication administration, monthly drills, admission and discharge documentation/meetings, treatment team meetings, daily behavioral data documentation, etc.
  • Prepares and maintains clinical documentation in accordance with laws, regulatory bodies, HIPAA, Human Rights, DBHDS, and RBHA standards.
  • Administers and document medications in accordance with all regulatory bodies.
  • Performs customer service duties by meeting and greeting clients upon arrival for treatment; admits clients to the unit by taking inventory of belongings; conducts tours and orientation of unit.
  • Coordinates discharges in full consultation with the REACH Clinical team.
  • Monitors and assists clients with activities of daily living.
  • Maintains the safety and cleanliness of the unit and programming areas.
  • Performs laundry duties for unit and client laundry; assists clients as needed; serves meals.
  • Assist in transporting clients to and from appointments.
  • Ensures required trainings are current and completed in a timely manner.
  • On an as needed basis, may be required to pick up additional shifts outside of normal hours
  • Performs other related work duties as assigned.

General knowledge of community and Authority resources, programs, and of regional and State resources for the community service population; knowledge of Licensing, Human Rights, and HIPAA regulations and requirements; general knowledge of interviewing and supportive counseling techniques; general knowledge of social casework techniques; some knowledge of human development and behavior; some knowledge of the theories, principles and techniques of individual, family and group therapy; ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility; ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions; ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, orally and in writing; ability to prepare clear and concise reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with medical personnel, law enforcement, clients, associates and the general public.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in any field required; current enrollment may be considered for those professionals who are registered as a QMHP-T with the Virginia Board of Counseling.
  • Must be registered as a QMHP or QMHP-T with the Virginia Board of Counseling or hold a graduate degree and meet licensure eligibility. Please refer to the Board of Counseling website to register and for more information.
  • Experience in intellectual and developmental disabilities, including programming for individuals with significant behavioral needs as well as knowledge of the MH/ID/DD/SA systems.

Special Requirements:

  • Valid Virginia driver’s license.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or obtained during orientation).
  • Training in verbal de-escalation and non-violent crisis intervention (or obtained during orientation).
  • Flexible schedule required, including evenings, weekends, overnights, and holidays (24-hour positions).
  • Sign-on bonus available for eligible staff per organizational policy
