Our Mental Health Counselor reports to our Chief Executive Officer and supports our Edgerton Hospital - Fulton Square Clinic by performing the following duties:

  • Conduct initial assessments to determine the client's mental health needs and concerns.
  • Develop treatment plans based on the assessment, setting clear goals and objectives.
  • Provide individual, family, or group therapy sessions using evidence-based therapeutic techniques and modalities.
  • Assist clients in developing coping strategies and problem-solving skills.
  • Offer a safe and empathetic environment for clients to discuss their feelings and experiences.
  • Address issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, relationship problems, and more
  • Create personalized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, setting achievable therapeutic goals.
  • Monitor progress and adjust treatment strategies as needed.
  • Be prepared to provide immediate support and crisis intervention in cases of suicidal ideation, self-harm, or acute mental health crises.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including session notes, progress reports, and treatment plans.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards regarding client confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurse practioners, social workers, and medical doctors, to provide comprehensive care.
  • Communicate with family members or support networks when appropriate and with the client's consent.
  • Educate clients about mental health conditions, treatment options, and self-care techniques.
  • Advocate for clients' rights and access to mental health services within the community.
  • Stay current with the latest research, therapeutic techniques, and ethical guidelines by participating in ongoing training and professional development.
  • A master's or doctoral degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Must have completed all intern hours, be certified/licensed and be able to be billed under own NPI
  • Proficiency in various therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and interpersonal therapy (IPT).
  • Trauma-informed certification preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to establish rapport and build trust with clients.
