About Job

Alamo Heights Counseling Inc. is a locally owned and operated mental health establishment consisting of LPCs, LFMTs, and LCSWs serving north central San Antonio both in person AND via telehealth.

We are hoping to add 2-3 client-focused, independent, responsible counselors to our team. While we welcome those who would like to join us part time, we are especially looking for 2-3 clinicians willing to take on a full-time caseload.

Office staff are present Monday through Friday 7 AM to 7 PM and some weekend hours. Contract clinicians make their own schedules, within the times that offices are available. We are currently hoping to fill the following schedules:
Thursday through Monday counselor (Tuesday-Wednesday off instead of the weekend)
Mornings only counselor (M-F from 7 or 8 through noon with option to stay later on Mondays)

We are a predominantly insurance-based practice with an on-site credentialer and a seemingly unlimited flow of referrals. For those who are not already empaneled with insurance companies, we will complete this process for you. You do not need to worry about credentialing, advertising, or billing as we handle all of that for you. We provide a furnished and decorated office with a computer and internet access, full time staff, access to EHR, and total file maintenance. You assess and treat your clients, write treatment plans and clinical notes, and submit a monthly invoice to our biller for payment.

In addition to our health insurance and private pay clients, we do have contracts with DFPS that require all our clinicians be credentialed by Texas Medicaid and pass a background check and central registry check. We ask that clinicians newly joining the team be willing to work with clients who are referred by DFPS, including children in family based cases, children in foster care, adults who are caring for children in CPS cases, and adults who are working to be reunified with their children.

It is our intention to develop a long-standing professional relationship and work together for many years to come. The ideal candidate is a clinician who would like to be in private practice without the overhead of renting space, advertising, billing, and bookkeeping; a clinician who has a specialized focus but is comfortable seeing some clients with differing presenting problems and from a variety of backgrounds while building a caseload. A clinician who is willing to take specific trauma-related CEUs or who already has specialized training in treating trauma would be ideal.

The ideal candidate is one who is looking to establish a long-term, full time office practice, one who is a self-starter, client-oriented, able to work well with others or alone. Being able to work amiably with office staff is critical, and being willing to type treatment plans and progress notes into the EHR program in a timely manner is a requirement.

Clinicians set their own schedules. Those who choose to work less than full time may be assigned an office to share with another clinicians.

This is a contract position with a nearly unlimited number of client referrals for the counselor who is willing to see clients with a wide variety of presenting concerns, and who would consider specializing later.

This is a contract position, not an employed position.
We are also looking at the possibility of an employee counselor. Terms of the position will be different based on federal and state regulations. If you are interested in both, please apply for the position that interests you MORE and make a note that you are interested in both.

We are eager to add two or three new therapists to our team as our practice grows, therefore we will submit your credentialing information to all MCOs and insurance companies as soon as possible. You will not be permitted to serve DFPS clients until the DFPS Contract Manager has approved you.

If you are interested in being contracted, please submit your resume. You will be contacted by telephone, email, and indeed message to submit additional required documentation and schedule a telephone and/or in-person interview.
