As a Special Care Coordinator you are instrumental to supporting the safety and activities related to residents with Alzheimer ’s disease and dementia. Your work will ensure our residents receive the high standard of care they have grown to expect at Bella Terra Wheeling by providing dementia care training and support to all employees, providing counseling to residents and their family members, developing techniques that promote a calm and safe environment for residents with Alzheimer’s and dementia and providing employees with methods to minimize safety risks to residents with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Our residents will depend on your knowledge, skills, and attention to detail to ensure they are comfortable and safe.

To be eligible for consideration applicants should have:

As a minimum, an associate’s degree in Social Work, Applied Psychology or similar field, documented coursework in dementia care and ability-centered care, five (5) years of experience working with persons with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, at least two (2) years of which are in a managerial role and competence with Microsoft Office suite. A bachelor’s degree in Social Work or Applied Psychology and eight (8) years of experience working with persons with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, with at least four (4) of those years being in a managerial role is preferable but we are willing to invest in the right candidate!
