About Job

TrueNorth Treatment Center is hiring a Peer Support Specialist for our Central City, KY location! As a Peer Support Specialist, you would be responsible for supporting clients throughout their journey to recovery. In this role, the Peer Support Specialist is seen as the client's mentor, advocate, and motivator.

Pay is dependent upon peer support certification status. $14/hour is base pay, with an increase upon KY state certification (CPSS).

Peer Support Specialist

Duties:

- Provide peer support and advocacy to individuals with mental health challenges - Collaborate with treatment teams to develop and implement individualized recovery plans - Facilitate support groups and educational workshops for individuals with mental health conditions - Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to promote self-determination and goal attainment - Assist individuals in accessing community resources and services - Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of interactions with clients

Requirements:

-High School Diploma or GED

-Be a Certified Peer Specialist or have completed a recognized peer specialist training program (Preferred but not required)

- Strong knowledge of recovery dynamics, mental health systems and resources

- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and computer literacy

- Ability to effectively use motivational interviewing techniques to facilitate recovery

- Empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental attitude towards individuals with mental health challenges

- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality

- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
