Nurturing Nest Counseling Services LLC is a Northern Virginia–based group practice dedicated to supporting women navigating perinatal and general life transitions. We provide culturally responsive care with a focus on serving women of color, underserved populations, and clients seeking Christian faith-based support as part of their healing journey. Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Therapist to join our growing team as a 1099 independent contractor. The ideal candidate is licensed in Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia, and is available for both remote and/or in-person sessions.
You’ll maintain autonomy in your clinical work while contributing to a supportive and collaborative environment. Our ideal contractor values perinatal-focused, culturally responsive therapy and is passionate about meeting the needs of women in underserved communities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Establish rapport and develop a therapeutic relationship with clients and families.
- Provide individual, couple, or family therapy within your scope of licensure.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using a secure EHR system.
- Participate in occasional team meetings or case consultations.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
- Conduct therapy via secure telehealth platforms and/or in person (depending on client needs and your availability).
- Manage your caseload independently while maintaining clear communication with the founder.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- Fully licensed as LCSW-C, LCPC, LMFT, PsyD, PhD, or equivalent in DC, MD, or VA, and in good standing.
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related mental health field.
- Proficiency or strong working knowledge of CBT, Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and/or Narrative Therapy.
- Experience working with the perinatal population preferred.
- Candidates who have not completed the Postpartum Support International (PSI) Perinatal Mental Health Basic Training must be willing to complete it within 90 days of their start date. The practice will cover the cost.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of care.
- Proficiency or strong working knowledge of CBT, Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and/or Narrative Therapy is helpful.
- Passion for culturally responsive care with a focus on women and underserved populations.
- Excellent communication, time management, and documentation skills.
- Comfort with telehealth platforms and HIPAA-compliant systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to communicate with others through virtual meeting applications such as Zoom and Google Meet.
- Must be able to observe and communicate information on a laptop.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $75,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
