Position Summary:

As a Training Development Manager focused on curriculum development, your primary responsibility is to craft, develop, and implement comprehensive training programs and materials tailored for our USCCA members.

In this role, you'll partner with subject matter experts, instructional designers, and key stakeholders to create dynamic and effective learning journeys. Your work will require a combination of creativity, instructional design acumen, and technical proficiency to deliver top-tier training products that support our organizational goals in the Education & Training Group.

You are charged with developing the curriculum, not training the curriculum. Our official partners, certified instructors, and our members will benefit from the learning journeys you create. From personal protection, situational awareness, concealed carry, home defense fundamentals, live fire, and non-lethal weapons, the training content you curate will further our mission to save lives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Needs Analysis:
    • Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify gaps in knowledge and skills within target audiences.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand requirements and objectives.
  • Curriculum Design:
    • Design comprehensive training curricula that align with organizational goals and learner needs.
    • Create detailed outlines, lesson plans, and learning objectives for each module or course.
  • Content Development:
    • Develop engaging and interactive training materials, including e-learning modules, instructor-led materials, and multimedia content.
    • Utilize a variety of instructional methods and technologies to enhance learning experiences.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including instructional designers, graphic designers, multimedia and marketing specialists, to ensure the seamless integration of content.
    • Incorporate feedback from stakeholders and subject matter experts into the development process.
    • Contribute to strategic planning, direction, and goal setting.
  • Technology Integration:
    • Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in e-learning and instructional design.
    • Utilize authoring tools, learning management systems (LMS), and other relevant technologies to deliver and track training content.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Conduct quality assurance checks on training materials to ensure accuracy, effectiveness, and alignment with learning objectives.
    • Revise and update training content based on feedback and changing organizational needs.
  • Evaluation and Metrics:
    • Develop assessment tools and metrics to measure the effectiveness of training programs.
    • Analyze data and feedback to continuously improve training content and delivery methods.
  • Documentation:
    • Create documentation for trainers and end-users, including facilitator guides, participant handouts, and user manuals.
    • Maintain organized records of training materials and versions.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, or related field or relevant experience in curriculum development is required.
  • Knowledge, comfort, and experience with firearms and firearms/self-defense training is required.
  • Proven experience in instructional design and training content development.
  • Familiarity with e-learning authoring tools and learning management systems. Experience with building e-learning courses and advance proficiency in e-learning development tools (i.e. Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, etc.) is a plus.
  • Ability to lead through influence.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to meet deadlines. Familiarity with agile development methodologies preferred.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Creativity in designing engaging and interactive learning experiences. Experience with creating multimedia content (videos, simulations, etc.) preferred.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design best practices.
  • Strong critical thinking and organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify and solve for inefficiencies in processes.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of team members.
  • Demonstrates the Core Values of Delta Defense, LLC.

This position is based at our corporate headquarters in West Bend, Wisconsin.
