Job Description: The Senior Admissions Counselor/Admissions Counselor (title will depend on experience level) will support Arcadia University's undergraduate enrollment goals by recruiting and yielding both traditional first-year students and non-traditional undergraduate students, including those pursuing online programs, adult degree completion, and workforce development opportunities. This role requires a dynamic and student-centered individual who is equally comfortable engaging high school students and families as well as working adults and community partners. In addition, this position will support the launch and expansion of Arcadia's workforce development initiatives through key administrative responsibilities. The counselor will play a central role in helping streamline enrollment processes for workforce development students and ensuring their smooth transition into Arcadia's academic programs. As Arcadia continues to expand its portfolio of online undergraduate and workforce development programs, we anticipate that this position will evolve over time, offering the opportunity to take on new responsibilities and help shape strategies for engaging a broader, more diverse population of learners.Location: GlensideEssential Functions:Traditional Undergraduate Recruitment Responsibilities:The Senior Admissions Counselor/Admissions Counselor will conduct intentional outreach and develop relationships with prospective students, families, and key influencers. This includes attending high school visits, college fairs, and both on-campus and virtual recruitment events. The counselor will strategically manage a recruitment territory, which involves planning travel, cultivating strong and sustained relationships with high school counselors and community partners, and tracking meaningful communications with prospective students. In addition to building trust through consistent engagement, the counselor may review applications and make admissions decisions in alignment with institutional policies. They will provide personalized guidance to prospective students and families throughout the application, financial aid, and enrollment processes. The Senior Admissions Counselor will be required to participate in weekend, evening and weekday on-campus recruiting events for undergraduate and graduate students including open houses, information sessions, receptions and Transfer Days. These events often require the counselor to present small and large group information sessions.Non-traditional Undergraduate Recruitment Responsibilities:The Senior Admissions Counselor/Admissions Counselor will conduct intentional outreach and relationship-building with prospective non-traditional students, including adult learners, online degree seekers, and individuals exploring workforce development opportunities. This includes engaging with community colleges, employers, and other referral partners, as well as participating in virtual and in-person recruitment events tailored to adult and non-traditional audiences. The counselor will manage outreach strategies and communication flows to build sustained engagement and guide students through the application, financial aid, and enrollment processes. They will offer personalized, solution-oriented support, recognizing the diverse needs and goals of non-traditional learners. The counselor may review applications and make admissions decisions in accordance with institutional guidelines, while also helping students navigate transfer credit evaluation, degree completion planning, and campus resource connections.Administrative Support and Project Coordination:The Senior Admissions Counselor/Admissions Counselor will contribute to the successful launch and growth of online and workforce development programs by supporting key administrative and operational functions. This may include reviewing workflows, coordinating with internal departments, tracking enrollment data, and helping ensure seamless onboarding for non-traditional students. The counselor will also be assigned to support or lead 1-3 targeted projects each cycle. In these efforts, the counselor must be highly organized, understand timelines and dependencies, and communicate regularly with their supervisor and relevant stakeholders. The ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and understand one's role within larger initiatives is essential for ensuring strategic outcomes and long-term success in these evolving enrollment pathways.Marginal Functions:
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Enrollment Management and Marketing leadership team, as appropriate.
  • Assist the Office of Enrollment Management with taking on additional work on a temporary basis during times of high volume or need.
Qualifications:Communication:
  • Able to give clear and timely information to the appropriate stakeholders in compliance with state and federal laws that safeguard personal information.
  • Able to professionally communicate via written correspondence, telephone or video, online media, and face to face, and tailoring the message appropriately to the medium used and the audience (example: coworker, parent, student, other University employees).
  • Also able to give clear and complete presentations and engage large groups including varied audiences.
Customer Service:
  • Able to work professionally with prospective students, current students, parents, high school representatives and university employees.
  • Provides clear and timely information and answers to questions, following up as necessary, or being able to refer an individual to a more appropriate team member.
  • Able to empathize with others and understand the various perspectives that individuals bring to a situation, and address those perspectives.
Project Management:
  • Able to organize tasks in the right order to reach the right outcome at the right time.
  • Monitor progress in projects and plans and adapt appropriately to changes or challenges.
  • Communicates workload and status of projects effectively and timely. Is well organized and manages assignments to a successful conclusion.
Technology:
  • Able to use appropriate software for efficient completion of work objectives.
  • Demonstrate beginner level mastery of core MS Office programs, and have general background knowledge about social media platforms.
Cultural Understanding:
  • Able to demonstrate respect for and engage with people of diverse backgrounds to create a stronger community.
Emotional Intelligence:
  • Ability to understand how this role fits into the overall goals of the EM office and the University, and how the quality and consistency of individual efforts affect other staff in the unit.
  • Able to respond positively to direction and performance-related critiques.
  • Able to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere on campus and when conducting University business off campus.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, required.
  • 1-2 years experience in admissions, preference for online or non-traditional students for Senior Admissions Counselor.
  • Valid driver's license with a vehicle available for recruitment travel.
  • Successful completion of a background check and motor vehicle record check.
  • Available for regular evening and weekend programs and activities as well as overnight travel.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Business uses of social media.
