A school-based mental health counselor position is available to support K-12 students in Saint Petersburg, FL, for the upcoming school year under a contract arrangement. This role focuses on providing crucial emotional and academic support within a dedicated educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and group counseling services addressing personal, academic, and social challenges faced by students.
- Design and implement programs promoting students mental health and overall well-being.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school administrators to develop personalized education and support plans.
- Guide students in academic planning, career exploration, and post-secondary opportunities.
- Respond effectively to crisis situations by offering immediate support and appropriate referrals.
- Conduct assessments to identify student needs and track their progress over time.
- Advocate for student needs while working to minimize barriers impacting learning.
- Ensure strict adherence to district policies, confidentiality requirements, and ethical standards.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in School Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Valid state certification or licensure in school counseling, including a PPS Credential.
- Experience working with K-12 student populations and familiarity with school-based mental health practices.
