About Job

Description: Do you want to make a difference? Lodestar is seeking passionate, empathetic, and inspiring individuals to join our team in supporting youth ages 5 to 21 who are navigating mental health challenges. Our mission is to create lasting, positive change by equipping the young people we serve with lifelong skills, while fostering their connection to the community.

These clinical services aim to prevent the progression of behavioral health challenges through early identification and intervention. They may be provided to children and youth who require assessment but have not yet received a formal behavioral health diagnosis. Services include therapeutic communication and interaction designed to alleviate symptoms, address functional limitations, and modify maladaptive behaviors associated with diagnosed behavioral health disorders.

Services are also intended to provide treatment for children/youth with an existing diagnosis for whom flexible community-based treatment is needed to correct or ameliorate conditions identified during an assessment process, such as problems in functioning or capacity for healthy relationships.

Schedule: Hours are based on the needs of the families and service providers. The ideal candidate is available between 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM, as most clients are school-aged and typically available after school hours. Flexible scheduling makes this position a great fit for individuals attending school or working other jobs. Weekend availability is optional but not required.

Location: Our main office is located in Farmingdale, Long Island; however, we provide services throughout Long Island, Queens, and Brooklyn. We are currently hiring workers across most of these areas to meet the needs of families in various communities. While Lodestar makes every effort to match workers with clients in their preferred locations, placements may vary based on availability and client needs.

Sessions are 60 minutes long and held weekly, either at the client’s home or within the community.

Qualifications: Applicants must hold a master's or doctoral degree and have one of the following licenses:

 Licensed Master Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social Worker

 Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists

 Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHC/MHC-LP)

 Licensed Creative Arts Therapist

Candidates holding a limited permit in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling will be compensated at a rate of $65 per hour. Upon successful licensure, the hourly rate will be adjusted to $80 per hour.

Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle (preferred for Long Island). Successful clearance of the State Child Abuse Registry, fingerprinting for criminal background checks, and other required screenings is mandatory.

Salary: $80.00 per service hour and $120 per assessment (including the report).

Limited Permit Salary $65.00 and $105 per assessment (including the report).

Job Type: Part-time/Per Diem

Resumes may be submitted directly to Danielle Weill, Program Director.

Lodestar is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Due to the number of expected applicants, not all applicants will receive a response.
