Comunilife Inc is looking for an experienced Mental Health Counselor for its Brooklyn Residential Program. The Mental Health Counselor provides mental health related services for clients with mental health needs. Responsible for the timely completion of mental health assessment and collaborating in the development and implementation of service plan(s) for each client admitted to the program. This position is eligible for Comunilife's generous benefits and paid time off package.

Essential Duties:

• Provide mental health services and assist with adherence to medication regimens; activities for daily living; nutritional services; recreation programs; assistance in employment assessments, training; prevention with positives; and other necessary services to clients to increase their capacity for independent living
• Provide supportive counseling and encouragement in support of adherence to clinical therapies.
• Develop and implement weekly groups on Mental Health Education and Support sessions, including sessions on psycho-pharmacological medications and their interactions with other medications.
• Complete, in a timely manner, all required documentation including comprehensive assessments, reassessments, progress notes of all contacts with
• Participate in case conferences, trainings, workshops and seminars as well as meetings with peers and supervisors as require
• Masters Degree, in Mental Health Counseling or Psychology, Social Work or related health field. Prefer one (1) to three (3) years work experience in mental health field, providing on-going counseling to HIV/AIDS individuals and their families. Individual, family and group counseling experience required.
• Preference given to persons with experience in Department of Homeless Services Programs, bi-lingual- Spanish.
