Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Student Counselor for the School of Engineering- Academic Affairs.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:


  • Promotes and achieves student success by providing comprehensive academic support and retention services to students.

  • Makes timely referrals to appropriate offices.

  • Provides reliable and timely academic advising to undergraduates at the School of Engineering.

  • Maintains student records.

  • Supports scholastic standing reviews.

  • Interacts professionally and compassionately with all undergraduate students, as well as their parents/guardians.

  • Coordinates advising related programming and activities.

  • Establishes effective working relationships with the SoE departments and other campus partners on issues pertaining to academic policies and student advising.

  • Participates in university-wide and school-wide duties and functions such as commencement and graduation convocation, new student on boarding, degree audits, student engagement, recruitment and other special programs or events as assigned.

  • Supports a collaborative, team focused, and positive work environment that is student-centered and passionate about student success.
