Overview:

Woofles Premier Pet Resort, Pittsburgh’s #1 premium pet resort is searching for a Canine Counselor to be part of the dedicated staff to provide exceptional service to ensure the well-being of our pets and their owners. Canine Counselors are expected to uphold Woofles Corporation’s high standards for animal care, cleanliness, and client communication.

The Canine Counselor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and nurturing environment for all size furry friends in cage-free dog group and overnight accommodations. This role ensures facility sanitization, beginning and end-of-day transitions for day and overnight guests, and the completion of specific climate-dependent and seasonal duties. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and dedicated to the wellbeing of both pets and their families.

Tasks, Facility Cleanliness and Safety

  • Ability to follow direction and handle control of animals and facility
  • Ensure dogs receive outdoor bathroom breaks and maintain yard cleanliness
  • Prepare and use chemical cleaning mixtures for sanitizing
  • Stock and fill food bowls and ensure clean water bowls in indoor and outdoor play areas
  • Maintain laundry rotation to ensure cleanliness
  • Complete nightly tasks such as arranging and cleaning blankets and couches
  • Ensure preparation for the next day occurs
  • Put dogs to sleep in overnight kennels and confirm meal and assignment schedules
  • Ensure safety and security of suites, doors and facilities
  • Conduct yard checks to ensure safety, cleanliness, picking up and disposing of waste appropriately
  • Sanitize all indoor playgroup surfaces, including walls, floors, furniture and other areas as required
  • Refresh cleaning tools and supplies frequently
  • Ensure safety and sanitation protocols are followed
  • Clean surfaces, glass, windows, decks, flooring and other areas of facility often and as required

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to correct animals safely and firmly as outlined in the protocols
  • Ability to love and nurture furry friends often and as needed
  • Passion for animal welfare and comfort working with large dog breeds in active playgroup settings
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining safety and warmth toward animals
  • Effective communication skills (written and Verbal)
  • Ability to complete paperwork and file as required
  • Responsible use of mobile devices for media and documentation
  • Physically capable of lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Comfortably managing all size dogs in an active group setting
  • Reliable with detailed cleaning, organization, and safety protocols
  • Physically capable of performing moderate lifting and extended activity
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Excellent communication skills with team members and supervisors
  • Calm, kind demeanor when transitioning dogs to rest spaces and all other times of the day

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
