Role: Outpatient Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Contract
Location: Carencia Arlington Office/Work-From-Home
Hours: Up to 40+ hours/week

General Description: Carencia Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions with an emphasis on the patient’s health goals. A commitment to an outcomes-oriented approach and improvement in the quality of life is a central theme of services performed. Carencia takes a robust Mind, Body, Lifestyle approach to treatment which may also include Alternatives to Medicine (CAM), such as recommending supplements and other health recommendations.
Primary Purpose: To assist patients in mental health and substance abuse wellness and prevention through psychiatric nursing practice, including but not limited to; psychopharmacology, education, and psychotherapy.

- Provide comprehensive services for patients through competencies (knowledge and skills).
- Able to work well with others and actively participates as part of the treatment team.

- Act as a positive role model, providing patients with guidance and support.
- Assist with the patient experience from A-Z, including aspects of customer service.
- Refer to other Carencia healthcare providers, including Primary Care and Nutritionist, as appropriate.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Screening – Conduct patient interviews and assessments
- Orientation – Describe treatment experience to new patients
- Assessment – Gather data from the patient and other sources, including administering standardized assessment scales; analyze and interpret the data to identify patient strengths, weaknesses, and needs.
- Treatment Planning – Collaborate with the patient to develop treatment plans, identifying and prioritizing problems, goals, and treatment methods.
- Counseling – Provide individual counseling, applying CBT and motivational interviewing skills.
- Pharmacological- Utilize knowledge, safety, and best practices as it pertains to prescribing medications.
- Education – Provide patients with information about substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, mental health, treatment, recovery, and resources.
- Crisis management – Respond to patient needs during extreme distress or emergencies, during regular business hours.
- Referral – Identify patient needs that can be met with other Carencia providers and/or outside of Carencia, and assist patient to use community resources and support systems.
- Consultation – Relate with professionals on patient treatment and services to ensure comprehensive care.
- Record Keeping – Maintain accurate, thorough, and up-to-date patient records.
- Maintain client confidentiality and high ethical and professional standards.
- Prepare for and participate in individual and group supervision and clinical staff meetings.
- Assist the team in managing tasks and communications such as phone calls, emails, and messages.
- Accurately collect patient financial responsibilities for services and bill insurance.
- Conduct designated number of visits a week, in order to serve our patients best and meet their ongoing needs
- Meet continuing education and other requirements to maintain professional licenses related to the position.

Looks for feedback from patients and others working with Carencia to elevate each person’s experiences and always evaluates for opportunities for improvement.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk or sit; use a keyboard and computer mouse; reach with hands and arms; balance, stoop, kneel, bend talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
