Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Addiction Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in behavioral health and a commitment to helping individuals struggling with addiction. This role involves providing support, guidance, and therapeutic interventions to clients as they navigate their recovery journey. The Addiction Counselor will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine individual needs and treatment plans.
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions focusing on addiction recovery and coping strategies.
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on clinical assessments and patient goals.
  • Maintain accurate case management records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions, encouraging open communication and peer support among participants.
  • Monitor patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians and social workers, to coordinate comprehensive care.
  • Educate patients and their families about addiction, treatment options, and recovery resources.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in addiction treatment methodologies and behavioral health practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience in case management within a hospital or clinical setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ICD-9 coding related to substance use disorders is a plus.
  • Strong skills in psychotherapy techniques relevant to addiction counseling.
  • Familiarity with behavioral health principles and practices.
  • Ability to conduct thorough patient assessments and diagnostic evaluations effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage clients empathetically.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Certification or licensure as an Addiction Counselor is preferred but not required.
