Position Highlights

  • Job Type: Full-Time, Community-Based (Not Remote)
  • Pay: $16.00 – $19.00 per hour (based on experience)

What You’ll Do

As a Peer Support Specialist at ACS, you’ll:

  • Serve as a role model of recovery and self-determination.
  • Provide one-on-one peer mentoring in the community and in client homes.
  • Support individuals in developing coping strategies, building independence, and accessing resources.
  • Help clients complete intake documents and follow up consistently on their progress.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff during treatment planning and team meetings.
  • Attend required monthly supervisions, bi-monthly treatment team meetings, and all-staff Zoom meetings.
  • Accurately document all client encounters in our EHR system within 24 hours.

What We Expect

We hold our team to a high standard of professionalism, ethics, and accountability.

You must:

  • Hold a valid NC Peer Support Specialist Certification (required).
  • Have lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery and be comfortable sharing your story professionally.
  • Be 21 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Own a personal laptop/desktop computer, have reliable internet access, and be able to check/respond to emails daily.
  • Have a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel throughout the community.
  • Be able to maintain boundaries, respect confidentiality (HIPAA), and uphold ACS’ values with integrity.
  • Be reliable, prompt, coachable, and responsive to communication (including replying to emails within 24 hours).
  • Document all services timely and accurately.

Responsibilities At a Glance

  • Provide weekly in-person peer support services (no phone or video sessions).
  • Attend required supervision and team meetings.
  • Submit accurate and timely progress notes within 24 hours of service.
  • Complete intake support duties and document delivery.
  • Advocate for and support clients in navigating appointments, resources, and community services.
  • Maintain proper documentation for missed appointments (non-billable notes).
  • Participate in mandatory monthly team meetings.
  • Follow the agency chain of command and maintain professional communication.
