About The Role

Within the Department of Early Childhood and under the general direction of the administrator, this position is responsible for providing School Social Work support for identified students with disabilities in preschool programs.

  • Participates as a member of the multidisciplinary evaluation team and assists in the comprehensive assessment of students suspected of having a disability as outlined in the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education.
  • Provides school social work services, as recommended by Individualized Educational Programming team, to students with disabilities enrolled in PreK programs.
  • Coordinates with and provides consultative services to general education and special education teachers, staff, parents, agency personnel, and administrators and other staff working with preschoolers.

About You

  • Master's Degree in Social Work. An Infant Mental Health background is preferred.
  • One year experience in school social work practice in a school setting which can include master's level social work internship.
  • Certified or approved as a school social worker or willingness to obtain.
