The Department of Developmental Services is looking for individuals with experience working with the developmentally disabled community to fill Psychiatric Technician vacancies located in Solano, Orange and Tulare Counties.

The DDS State-Operated Stabilization Training Assessment Re-Integration (STAR) homes provide individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities experiencing an acute crisis with person-centered support and crisis stabilization on a time-limited basis to enable them to successfully return home or transition to less restrictive living settings. The homes strive to empower individuals to be self-reliant as their skills, strengths, perseverance, and abilities allow so they can transition from crisis stabilization services to long-term community living. STAR currently provides services to adolescents (11-17 years old) and adults (18 years of age and older) who are receiving regional center services. The STAR homes are 4 to 5 bed homes located in community settings.

Experience in the following areas will ensure success in this role:

  • Fundamentals of nursing care
  • General behavioral and psychiatric procedures
  • Client behavior and mental health principles and techniques involved in the care and treatment of developmentally disabled individuals
  • First-aid methods, medical terminology, pharmacology
  • Management assaultive behavior techniques
