Position Summary

The Psychology program at Allan Hancock College is seeking applications to develop a qualified pool of part-time faculty for in-person instructional vacancies. The position is primarily intended to serve students at the Lompoc Federal Correctional Institution but may be offered assignments at other locations, as needed. Assignments may be for spring, summer, or fall, and may be day or evening hours. The courses most likely to be assigned to this position are PSYC C1000: Introduction to Psychology, PSY 113: Theories of Personality, PSY 118: Humna Development—Lifespan, and PSY 121: Social Psychology.

Please note that this is not a remote position.

Essential Functions and Qualifications

  • Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
  • Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
  • Teach all scheduled classes.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Assignments may include day, evening, or weekend classes.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in psychology
OR
Bachelor's degree in psychology
AND
Master's degree in counseling, sociology, statistics, neuroscience, or social work
OR the equivalent.

Additional Information

The position requires additional background clearances to gain entry into facilities/settings.

The position is primarily intended to serve students at the Lompoc Federal Correctional Institution but may be offered assignments at other locations as well.

SALARY

  • Lecture Rate: $56.46 to $86.44 per hour depending upon education and experience
  • Lab Rate: $49.17 to $75.26 per hour depending upon education and experience
  • Activity Rate: $36.33 to $56.69 per hour depending upon education and experience
