Team LLC – Job DescriptionPosition Title: Mental Health Skill-Building Counselor (QMHP)

Location: Richmond, VA Office
Department: Community-Based Services
Reports To: Clinical Supervisor or Program Director
Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time / PRN

Position Summary:

Team LLC is seeking a qualified QMHP to provide Mental Health Skill-Building Services (MHSB) to adults in the Greater Richmond area. The MHSB Counselor is responsible for delivering goal-oriented, community-based interventions that promote stability, independence, and improved quality of life for individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness (SMI).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver face-to-face, skills-focused services to clients in homes, the community, and other natural settings.
  • Support clients in developing essential skills in medication adherence, daily living, financial management, personal hygiene, nutrition, and accessing community resources.
  • Assist clients in identifying barriers to independence and work collaboratively to overcome those through individualized service plans (ISPs).
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with Medicaid, DBHDS, and Team LLC standards (within 24 hours of service delivery).
  • Monitor and promote psychiatric and behavioral stability, including coordination with external providers such as PCPs, psychiatrists, and therapists.
  • Participate in regular supervision, training, and team meetings to ensure quality of care and compliance.
  • Educate and empower clients to navigate systems of care, including housing, employment, and medical services.
  • Provide crisis support and referral assistance when appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Must meet DBHDS qualifications as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP-A or QMHP-E)
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related human services field
  • At least one year of direct clinical experience working with adults with mental health diagnoses
  • Strong organizational, communication, and clinical documentation skills
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance (position requires fieldwork in the Richmond area)

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with local Richmond-area community resources
  • Prior experience with Medicaid-funded services and service authorization processes
  • Experience using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
  • Trauma-informed and person-centered care approaches

Working Conditions:

  • Services provided in the field, client homes, or community-based locations
  • Flexible scheduling may include some evening or weekend hours based on client needs
  • Regular travel within Richmond and surrounding areas
