Job Title:

Crisis Counselor (Child & Youth)



Job Summary:

Provide face-to-face and telephone crisis intervention services to individuals experiencing mental health emergencies.



Schedule Available:

Wednesday through Sunday, 11 pm - 8 am



Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct crisis assessments and interventions to address psychiatric emergencies.
  2. Assess for the least restrictive options to meet client needs.
  3. Refer to hospitalization facilities when necessary.
  4. Refer to Diversion Services with appropriate clinical information.
  5. Participate in supervisory consultations for care disposition.
  6. Provide follow-up services as per policies and Title 33.
  7. Develop individualized crisis plans.
  8. Respond promptly to face-to-face assessment requests.
  9. Maintain excellent customer service skills.
  10. Assist Triage Counselors with calls and dispositions.
  11. Provide telephone counseling as needed.
  12. Keep accurate clinical records and documentation.
  13. Coordinate with care management teams and provide consultation.
  14. Assist community agencies with information and dispositions.
  15. Educate community agencies on crisis services.
  16. Support teammates as needed.


Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field with specialized crisis intervention training.
  • Valid Tennessee Driver’s License.
  • Licensed or license-eligible (e.g., LMSW, LPC, LMFT) with intent to obtain provisional license within 1-2 years.
  • Comfortable responding to community crisis calls.
  • Acceptable criminal background investigation.
  • Personal automobile insurance.
  • Cell phone.
