PAR has been providing comprehensive behavioral health treatment in west Florida since 1970 through advocacy, education, clinical services, and research.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Performs substance abuse and mental health counseling work on an individual client basis and in a group setting. Also provides evaluation, screening and assessment services. Responsible for servicing primary caseload along with other clients as assigned, and documenting in accordance with company standards. Counseling includes discussion of issues associated with patient’s substance use and other co-occurring conditions to work toward a constructive resolution of those problems and ultimately toward recovery. May be required to use telehealth services to provide clinical screenings, assessments, and counseling.
SCOPE OF PRACTICE:
- Screening, service coordination and treatment planning
- Continuing assessment, documentation of progress and treatment plan reviews
- Crisis intervention and recovery support services
- Psychological assessment, referral and consultation
- Individual, family and community education
- Counseling in individual and group settings
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree with enrollment in a Master's level program required, degree must be in a related field of counseling, psychology, social work or human services with prior experience.
- Master's degree in a human services or related field preferred.
- One years’ experience in counseling work in individual, family and group settings required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to write accurately and legibly
- Moderate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Windows-based computers
- Ability to accurately type at least 40 words per minute.
- Ability to sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend and to sit in meetings for extended periods of time
- Ability to move throughout program facilities both indoors and outdoors
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid driver's license required or ID card.
- Must pass a level II background check and drug screen
