Job Summary
Provide assessment, treatment planning, case management and counseling for individuals receiving outpatient substance use services at local homeless shelter.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide a range of clinical services including assessment, treatment planning, case management and counseling in a context that is supportive of the individual’s culture, values, and perspectives.
- Assess the social and emotional needs of adult and adolescent clients, identify strengths, and develop treatment plans.
- Conduct individual, group, and family counseling to those using substances.
- Provide educational programs to clients, family members, and the community.
- Complete accurate clinical records including SUD assessments, diagnosis, progress notes, and other information in a timely manner.
- Work effectively with diverse families; demonstrate cultural sensitivity; affirm cultural, racial, and linguistic identity.
- Advocate for clients’ needs with community agencies, governmental bodies, hospitals, courts, and professionals.
- Utilize crisis intervention techniques to prevent or intervene in crisis situations.
- Network within the community to develop social resources.
- Engage in community networking to promote MGI services and create relationships that will enhance the opportunity for future referrals.
- Participate in regular staff meetings, staff training programs, and supervisory sessions.
- Work collaboratively with program staff to best meet the needs of clients.
- Act in accordance with MGI policies and procedures. Demonstrate integrity and professionalism in interactions with staff, clients, volunteers and donors.
Qualifications
- Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor, CADC and/or LPC/LCPC, LSW/LCSW
- Bilingual Spanish-speaking preferred;
- Experience with Substance Use Disorder treatment;
- Experience with trauma issues and treatment;
- Experience working with mental health;
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
- Excellent crisis intervention and problem-solving skills;
- Demonstrated ability to manage overall goals while attending to details;
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain professional boundaries;
- Computer proficiency;
- Acceptance and respect for diversity of culture, sexual orientation, gender identity of expression,ability, and religious belief.
Working Conditions
This position is primarily located at Hesed House. Will be required to travel to other locations, for purposes of supervision, training, advocacy, counseling, and to otherwise represent Mutual Ground.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
