A $3,000 hiring bonus is being offered for this position. Hiring bonuses shall only be for new hires of original employment or reemployment as defined in Human Resources Policy No. 5.0.

  • $500 will be awarded in the first paycheck.
  • $1,000 will be awarded upon completion of the six (6) month interim performance evaluation with an overall rating of “Meets Expectations”.
  • $1,500 will be awarded upon completion of the employee’s one (1) year probationary period and a performance evaluation with an overall rating of “Meets Expectations”.


The City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services is seeking to hire a candidate who is highly ambitious and motivated with a passion to help others for the Supportive Residential Services program in our Behavioral Health Division. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with serious mental health in a community settings providing in-home support and or skill building services to include having experience working in an Electronic Health Record (EHR).


Duties:

  • Provide Supportive Residential Services for tenants residing in shared, supportive housing at Beach Park West and Atlantis Manor.
  • Provide supportive services to reinforce the skills tenants need to maintain community stability and independence while residing in agency sponsored housing.
  • Support tenants with paying rent and utilities, to include seeking resources as needed.
  • Support tenants with maintaining successful tenancy by reinforcing timely payment of rent and utilities.
  • Support tenants with completing the VBCDC annual rental certification process.
  • Provide leasing and rental education to tenants.
  • Provide tenants linkage to community resources, including local agencies such as food pantries, Department of Social Services, etc.
  • Serve as the liaison between the landlord and other behavioral health services, including monthly face to face or telephonic contact.
  • Complete advocacy for tenants at Beach Park West and Atlantis Manor, including assisting tenants with following up with maintenance concerns and coordinating with supervisory staff to report outstanding maintenance issues.
  • Assess health and safety needs of current tenants and complete referrals to agency behavioral health or private agency services.
  • Provide supportive counseling/crisis intervention services to tenants, as needed.
  • Maintain proficient understanding and use of the Electronic Health Record to document service delivery.
  • Provide clinical documentation and assures that all filing of clinical information and submission of billing information are done accurately and within the time frame required.


Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm with one evening shift, 10:00 am - 6:30 pm
