Trilogy’s Alternative Crisis Team provides mobile crisis response services to community members experiencing mental health crises or distress. Available to all community members free of charge, the team engages with a wide population of individuals experiencing suicidal ideation, psychosis, housing instability, severe anxiety, and other time sensitive needs. Senior Crisis Counselors support with the creation of safety plans, connection to community resources, and in the moment crisis counselling.

The Senior Crisis Counselor will complete all the responsibilities of the Crisis Counselor in addition to being the lead clinician on shifts where no Team Leader is present. They will respond to mental health crises in the community as part of a team and provide de-escalation, assessment, safety planning, and community resources. They will provide strengths-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed services to people with severe mental illnesses and co-occurring substance abuse/addiction disorders utilizing a harm reduction approach.

The Senior Crisis Counselor is a member of the leadership team along with the Team Leader, Program Manager, and Clinical Director. While the Senior Crisis Counselor does not supervise staff members, they will assist with the creation of monthly schedules; create the daily appointment schedule with Team Leaders; answer questions and consult requests throughout the day from staff and manage dispatch/workflow of crisis calls.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as lead clinician on days where no Team Leader is on shift
  • Assist with the creation of monthly and daily schedules
  • Support Team Leaders with training of new staff
  • Provide mobile crisis response services in pairs of two which include assessment, engagement, and safety planning with individuals in the community
  • Give resources to community partners to reduce the need for future crisis intervention
  • Work with referral sources to maintain a positive partnership to ensure success of the program
  • Provide care coordination that supports an integrated health model and make referrals to additional services as needed.
  • Provide staffing for shifts where coverage is needed; and on-call coverage in scheduling system
  • Communicate effectively with the team for consultation and information sharing
  • Complete all documentation in a timely and thorough manner
  • Perform other related duties and/or projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or other closely related field
  • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Illinois
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license with daily access to a well-maintained vehicle with $100,000/$300,000 liability insurance
  • Experience in mobile crisis, Screening, Assessment and Support Services (SASS), or emergency room crisis work settings preferred
