Job Purpose & Position Overview
This position serves as the Primary Care Clinic Manager for Twelve Clans Unity Hospital (TCUH), a division of the Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System (WCHS). This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the clinic, ensuring high-quality, coordinated, and patient-centered care consistent with the principles of patient-centered care. This role is critical in fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability while supporting the integration of medical, behavioral, and social care services to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction. The position will promote safe, quality care for patients, which meets criteria of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate the WCHS Mission, Vision and Values; respectful of Tribal beliefs, culture and traditions
- Provide direct supervision of the clinical nursing staff and partner with the Clinic Medical Director
- Lead and manage clinic operations to support patient centered care delivery such as access to care, continuity, coordination, and quality
- Implement workflows and systems that support team-based care, patient engagement, and care transitions to optimize patient access, satisfaction, and health outcomes
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, quality, and patient outcomes
- Ensure all staff completes a comprehensive orientation to obtain in-depth knowledge of medical equipment located in the Primary Care Clinic; also ensure nurses are thoroughly and adequately trained, possess core competencies, and demonstrate proficiency in using the equipment to ensure appropriate care for patients
- Develop, review and approve all clinic policies and procedures, to include nursing standards of care, treatment and nursing practices to align with current evidence-based practices
- Monitor patient satisfaction, wait times, and service quality
- Implement quality improvement initiatives in collaboration with the Quality team
- Ensure all staff documents health records accurately and in a timely manner
- Ensure all staff administer medication in accordance with the physician’s orders and comply with medication guidelines
- Follow and adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and CMS rules and regulations
- Assist in recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations
- Keep up to date with job knowledge and healthcare trends by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Demonstrate excellent leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Assist in preparation and monitoring of annual departmental budgets
- Manage site budgets, supply orders, and cost control initiatives
- Establish good working relationships with all departments within the facility
- Facilitate communication across the care team and with patients to enhance patient experience and health outcomes
- Managing budgets, staffing schedules, and clinic resources efficiently and effectively
- Demonstrate the ability to make decisions in matters of significance
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska or multi state licensure in a nurse licensure compact state
- Minimum of Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelors of Science in Nursing preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience, experience in a clinic setting or a combination of education and applicable experience
- Current Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within first year of employment
- 3-4 years of leadership experience in a patient centered medical home, community health center, outpatient clinic or another area in the healthcare field preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Normal to light office work that includes the ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office and medical equipment
Cognitive Requirements:
- Ability to read, write, and perform needed calculations
- Above average social skills and the ability to interact with all age groups
- Ability to reason and analyze when circumstances warrant
- Work with minimal to no supervision
Language Requirements:
- Possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently
- Continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills
Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:
- All applicants will comply with 45 CFR 1301, Subpart D, Section 1301.31, C and D, which require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies and to comply with PL 101-630 and PL 101-637 regarding criminal records check.
