Job Title: Recreation Therapist
Department: Therapies
Location: Clifton Springs Nursing Home
Hours Per Week: Per diem
Schedule: Days and evenings based on needs of the facility and recreation department

SUMMARY:
As a Recreation Therapist, your compassion and creativity assist in keeping our community physically and mentally healthy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs a comprehensive, initial assessment of clients to determine course of action. The associated plan of care addresses a program of therapeutic activities tailored to the needs, restrictions, limitations, and preferences of the individuals.

Develops and implements a treatment program and revises the plan as necessary.

Communicates any physical or emotional health changes in clients.

Documents evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports, and other reports as required by the profession and the department.

Maintains the schedule of Therapeutic Recreation programs to be offered according to the client’s needs and interests.

Works with client’s family requests for routine, special services when possible and encourages family and friends to participate in programs with clients, such as chaperoning field trips.

Foster relationships in the community in order to strengthen ties between the community and the clients.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid NYS Drivers License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy, Music or Art Therapy, Human Services, Gerontology or related fields preferred.

Experience in specialty area preferred.

Previous experience planning, organizing, and implementing a quality activity program in a long term care setting preferred.

CPR certification preferred.

Current certification or eligibility through NCTRC or accrediting body preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant.
