Responsibilities
Conducts a therapeutic recreation program within the hospital to facilitate the rehabilitation of the physically and mentally disabled. The Activity Therapist directs patient participation in activities such as games, social activities, sports, or music to create an atmosphere of sociability, provide a means of creative expression, and facilitate learning skills for recreation during hospitalization and after discharge into the community. Creates an environment that allows patients to explore their potential, cultivate positive morale, and minimize distress caused by illness.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Recreation Therapy, Art Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, or a related field.
2. Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or Registered Therapeutic Recreator (RTR) is preferred.
3. Minimum one (1) year experience in Behavioral Healthcare, rehabilitative, or SNF setting preferred.
