JOB SUMMARY
The Safety Stabilization Counselor provides immediate support and guidance to individuals experiencing acute emotional, mental, or situational crises, focusing on ensuring safety and well-being through crisis intervention, assessment, and stabilization plans.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Crisis Intervention: Respond to crisis situations, providing immediate assessment, intervention, and support to individuals in distress.
Safety Planning: Develop and implement safety plans to ensure the physical and emotional safety of clients, addressing potential risks and triggers.
Stabilization: Assist individuals in regaining a sense of control and stability during a crisis, offering emotional support and guidance.
Assessment: Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to understand client needs, risk factors, and strengths.
Case Management: Provide case management services, including connecting clients with appropriate resources and services.
Trauma-Informed Care: Approach all interactions with a trauma-informed lens, understanding the potential impact of past trauma on current behaviors and experiences.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other professionals, including mental health providers, social workers, and other agency staff, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care. Assist staff with client care as needed.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely records of client interactions and progress.
Advocacy: Advocate for clients' rights and needs within the system and community.
Training and Education: Provide education and training to clients, families, and other stakeholders on relevant topics, such as crisis intervention, safety planning, and accessing resources.
Referrals: Make appropriate referrals to other services and support systems as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 2 weeks of start date
- Security Guard Card Required
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on compassionate care for vulnerable populations.
- Ability to work collaboratively in dynamic and diverse environments, including urban areas and outdoor settings.
- Physical ability to lift and transport medical equipment (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
- Experience in security operations (preferred)
- Experience with vulnerable populations and/or individuals with mental health conditions
