About Job

Under the direction of the Social Services Executive Director, interview clients to assess and determine client needs and service plans. Advocate and coordinate service delivery in consultation with MCFS staff, providers and attorneys in and outside the Reservation. Assist with CFS program development and delivery, including intakes, assessments, case planning, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, case management, community outreach, education and referrals. Manage court cases, attend hearings and prepare court reports as needed. Ensure cases are ICWA compliant. Coordinate case filings and interactions between Departments, Tribal Court and affiliated offices. Interested candidate must submit a fictional writing sample that directly relates to the field of social services included but not limited to redacted Court reports and or legal briefs, progress reports, needs and services plans, etc.

  • Knowledge of various components/terminology of local, state and federal social service programs, and appropriate social service forms used for each case and/or service provided.
  • Knowledge of Federal legislation that pertains to or affects the Native Tribes, particularly the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA).
  • Knowledge of treatment modalities and approaches to therapy. Awareness of symptoms/problems related to alcoholism and drugs and how to advise families on assistance/treatment. Awareness of impact of trauma on personal, family and social functioning. Community resources providing social services and protection for Native American families including TANF. Socio-economic, cultural patterns and backgrounds of Native American customs.
  • Valid California driver’s license and insurable on company policy.
  • First Aid/CPR Certifications.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology or related field and minimum of two years increasingly responsible experience in social work including experience with the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA), crisis management/counseling and impact of trauma.
  • MA/MSW from an accredited university in Human Services, Psychology or Social Work and License eligible with the California State Board preferred.
  • This position will assume social worker responsibilities and an assigned caseload immediately
