Job Title: Clinical Review Psychologist (Quality Assurance)

Location: Longmont, Colorado (This position can be performed remotely, with periodic in-person meetings preferred)
Job Type: Part-Time / Contract (Estimated [e.g., 2-5] hours per week)
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience (e.g., in the range of $75-$95/hour, depending on qualifications and final scope of duties).
Position Overview
Whole Connection is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Licensed Psychologist to join our team in a critical quality assurance capacity. This is not a direct clinical supervision role; rather, the Clinical Review Psychologist will be responsible for the final review and sign-off of clinical psychotherapy documentation. The ideal candidate will act as a subject matter expert, ensuring that all clinical notes, treatment plans, and assessments meet the highest standards of clinical excellence, ethical guidelines, and payer requirements. Your work will be fundamental to maintaining clinical integrity, ensuring compliance, and supporting our therapists in their professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
  • Documentation Review: Meticulously review clinical documentation (e.g., intake assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, discharge summaries) for clinical soundness, clarity, and completeness.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure all documentation aligns with state and federal regulations, professional ethics codes (e.g., APA), and specific requirements for commercial insurance, Medicare, and Health First Colorado (Medicaid).
  • Constructive Feedback: Provide timely, clear, and constructive written feedback to clinicians. Highlight areas for improvement, suggest edits for clarity, and ensure the "golden thread" is present throughout the client's record.
  • Final Sign-Off: Provide the final, required signature on documentation after review and any necessary edits are completed, confirming its readiness for auditing and billing.
  • Identify Trends: Collaborate with clinical leadership to identify patterns or recurring issues in documentation and assist in developing training materials or resources to address them.
  • Stay Current: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving best practices in clinical documentation and changes in payer policies.
Required Qualifications
  • Licensure: PhD or PsyD from an APA-accredited program and a current, unrestricted license as a Psychologist in the State of Colorado.
  • Supervisory Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a clinical supervisory, chart review, or quality assurance role within a mental health setting.
  • Clinical Expertise: Deep understanding of DSM-5/ICD-10 diagnostic criteria and evidence-based therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, ACT).
  • Documentation Mastery: Proven expertise in the principles of medical necessity and creating audit-proof clinical documentation.
  • Professionalism: High ethical standards, strong organizational skills, and the ability to provide feedback in a supportive and professional manner.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Payer Credentialing: Highly desirable for candidates to be currently and actively credentialed with a diverse range of payers, including:
  • Medicare Part B
  • Health First Colorado (Colorado Medicaid)
  • Major commercial/private insurers (e.g., UnitedHealthcare/Optum, Cigna, Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield).
  • Audit Experience: Prior experience successfully navigating insurance audits from commercial or government payers.
  • EMR/EHR Proficiency: Experience working with modern Electronic Health Record systems.
