Position: Clinical Social Worker--School Year 2025-2026

As a Clinical Social Worker you will:
- Believe that all students are capable of achieving their dreams and support them in the pursuit of those dreams
- Participate in special education assessment and individual educational plan (IEP) meetings
- Provide individual and group clinical services as indicated in students’ IEPs
- Complete annual IEP goals for special education students
- Complete functional behavior assessment and behavior improvement requests
- Input service trackers monthly for each student with disabilities who receives counseling services on their IEP
- Input quarterly progress reports and report cards in SEDS
- Address problems in a student's living situation that affect adjustment in school
- Prepare social or developmental history on students with disabilities
- Provide group, individual, and family counseling
- Mobilize family, school, and community resources to enable students to learn as effectively as possible in their educational programs
- Assist in developing positive behavioral intervention strategies
- Provide crisis intervention
- Assist with conflict resolution and anger management through mediation
- Help students develop appropriate social interaction skills
- Assist students in understanding and accepting self and others
- Demonstrate knowledge of McKinney-Vento population and procedures
- Demonstrate knowledge of resources for pregnant and parenting populations
- Conduct classroom observations of students with disabilities and general education students and provide targeted corrective feedback to support social and emotional learning needs
- Develop and deliver high-quality professional development for instructors on best practices for meeting the social and emotional needs of students
- Provide staff with essential information to better understand factors affecting a student’s performance and behavior
- Assess students with mental health concerns
- Develop staff in-service training programs
- Assist teachers with behavior management
- Provide direct support to staff as needed (e.g. duty station, transitions, dismissal)
- Attend external training to maintain clinical social work licensure
- Assist in developing and implementing educational programs for students such as resource room and mediation circles
- Supervise MSW interns and complete time-sensitive documentation
- Develop alternative programs for students who have left school or are not attending regularly
- Identify and report child abuse and neglect.
- Provide consultation regarding school law and school policy including IDEA and Section 504
- Provide case management for students and families requiring multiple resources
- Work with school staff to manage reporting and data tracking for all special education programs
- Perform other duties as deemed appropriate by Director of Clinical Services and Principal
Qualifications
- Master's degree in social work
- Social Work licensure - DC (LICSW preferred)
- Successful experience as a social worker, preferably in a school setting
- Previous counseling experience
Compensation
$80k - $90k
