The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) provides comprehensive mental health services, including assessment, diagnosis, and psychotherapy. LCSWs work with individuals, families, and groups to treat mental health disorders, address behavioral health challenges, and improve overall well-being. They may also provide supervision and training to other social workers and serve as advocates for clients within the healthcare or social services systems.
Duties
- Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct thorough assessments of clients' mental, emotional, and behavioral health. Diagnose mental health conditions in accordance with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) or other appropriate diagnostic tools.
- Psychotherapy and Counseling: Provide individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based therapeutic methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, or other modalities based on client needs.
- Treatment P]anning: Develop personalized treatment plans that address clients' mental health concerns. Continuously assess and modify treatment plans to reflect changes in the client's situation or progress.
- Crisis Intervention: Manage and respond to psychiatric crises, providing immediate support and developing safety plans for high-risk clients.
- Case Management and Referrals: Coordinate care with other healthcare providers, case managers, and community agencies to ensure clients receive comprehensive services. Refer clients to additional services such as medication management, housing support, or other social services.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and timely records of client interactions, assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and any other required documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Supervision and Training: Supervise and mentor LMSWs or social work interns who are working toward licensure, providing guidance and feedback on clinical practice.
- Advocacy: Advocate for clients' rights and needs within the healthcare and social service systems. Assist clients in navigating challenges related to mental health, legal issues, and OT community resources.
- Collaboration: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to provide holistic care and support to clients.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
- Valid Texas state licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) / LPC.
- Proficiency in addiction counseling techniques and PTSD care methodologies is preferred.
- Strong skills in crisis management, case management, and data collection.
- Familiarity with psychotherapy practices and evidence-based interventions.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 coding for accurate documentation of client services.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
