Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Ophthalmic Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office, providing essential support in various administrative tasks. A counselor plays a key role in guiding prospective patients through their vision correction journey—from initial inquiry to post-op follow-up. You’ll be counseling patients and coordinating surgical sales for LASIK, PRK, SMILE, ICL, Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE), and premium cataract surgery. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, in-depth ophthalmology knowledge, and the ability to cultivate referral relationships with optometrists and general ophthalmologists in the region.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily office operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to policies.
- Coordinate medical scheduling for patients, optimizing appointment availability.
- Utilize electronic health record systems such as eClinicalWorks and Epic for patient management.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of care plans for patients.
- Handle phone systems professionally, addressing inquiries and directing calls appropriately.
- Support medical collections processes by following up on outstanding accounts.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless communication and patient care.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with medical office standards.
- Provide administrative support as needed, including filing, data entry, and office management tasks.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a Ophthalmology is preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical scheduling processes and care plans.
- Familiarity with phone systems used in an office environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Experience with medical collections and administrative duties is highly desirable.
- Understanding in medical and vision insurances.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.60 - $29.00 per hour
