Family Peer Support Worker
Full Time| Days
Pay begins at $19.09/hour
*Eligible for Bilingual Pay Differential
All Faiths Children’s Advocacy Center (AFCAC) is currently seeking a Family Peer Support Worker to join our team and help children and families thrive! AFCAC are the only Children’s Advocacy Center in Albuquerque, working as trusted advocates for children and families affected by trauma.

Our organization is entering a powerful phase of growth. In response to the increasing mental health and substance use needs of our community, we are expanding our services to include care for adults, support for veterans, and substance use recovery programs—while continuing our commitment to children and families.
This expansion strengthens our ability to provide whole-person, trauma-informed care through evidence-based treatment, care coordination, and deepened community partnerships. Required:
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
- HS Diploma/GED Equivalent
- Must possess a Family Peer Support Worker (FPSW) certification in New Mexico state.
- Experience with and understanding of child serving systems such as mental health services, special education, juvenile justice and child protective services
What will I do as a Family Peer Support Worker with All Faith’s?
The Family Peer Support Worker (FPSW) is an individual who self-identifies as a parent/primary caregiver who has navigated child-serving systems such as mental health services, special education, juvenile justice, or child protective services on behalf of their child. The FPSW can offer unique expertise and experience based on their own experience navigating this child serving systems.
- We promote parent, legal guardian, and other primary caregiver participation in meetings and other activities.
- We support parents, legal guardians, and other primary caregivers to build skills and self-efficacy by modeling effective personal interactions.
- We assist parents, legal guardians, and other primary caregivers in identifying their strengths and resiliencies in order to effectively articulate those strengths and prioritize their needs. We also assist parents in crisis response and stabilization as needed.
- We advise parents, legal guardians, and other primary caregivers in identifying community and natural resources. This also includes in identifying and engaging advocates and supporters as part of their team
- We teach parents, legal guardians, and other primary caregivers how to effectively navigate complex service delivery systems including:
- - juvenile justice-child protective services,-education-physical health-behavioral health-and others.
- We encourage parents, legal guardians, and other primary caregivers to access services and supports the family in overcoming access barriers when needed.
- We empower parents, legal guardians, and other primary caregivers to effectively build upon their child’s strengths through role-modeling of persuasive self-advocacy skills and facilitating collaborative working relationships with professionals.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities preferred to perform:
- Must possess a Family Peer Support Worker (FPSW) certification in New Mexico state.
- Parent or other family member of a child or youth who has received a diagnosis of Serious Emotional Disturbance and/or has received mental health and/or substance use treatment and support services.
- Ability to manage your own well being
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and relational skills
- Ability to function as a team member, with initiative and flexibility.
- Organizational skills, with good attention to details and ability to handle multiple responsibilities and discretion as to how multiple responsibilities should be handled.
- Computer literacy and solid computer skills.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to drive for work-related tasks.
Bilingual skills are highly desirable.
