Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Technician to join our team in providing exceptional care to individuals with mental health challenges. The ideal candidate will work closely with patients in a hospital or corrections facility medical clinic setting, supporting their daily needs and promoting their overall well-being. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, patient observation skills, and the ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities.

Duties

• Provide direct patient care, ensuring the safety and comfort of individuals in a psychiatric setting.
• Assist nursing staff in implementing treatment plans and monitoring patient progress.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation related to patient care.
• Observe and report on patients’ behavior, emotional state, and any changes in condition.
• Engage patients in therapeutic activities that promote recovery and well-being.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care strategies.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations within the facility.
• Support patients with daily living activities as needed, fostering independence where possible.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in patient care within a hospital or behavioral health setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to psychiatry and mental health is essential.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a corrections facility medical clinic is a plus.
• Strong observational skills to monitor patient behavior and report findings accurately.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
• A compassionate approach towards individuals facing mental health challenges is crucial.
• Certification or training related to psychiatric care or behavioral health is advantageous but not mandatory.
