Extended Care Manager

Job Summary:The Extended Care Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the school’s before- and after-care program. This position ensures a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for students outside of regular school hours. The Extended Care Manager leads a team of care staff, coordinates age-appropriate activities, and maintains open communication with parents, teachers, and administrators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety, supervision, and well-being of all students in the extended care program at all times.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate, engaging activities that promote student development and enjoyment.
  • Supervise, guide, and evaluate extended care staff; delegate tasks effectively and ensure adherence to school policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records, including student attendance, sign-in/sign-out sheets, incident reports, and other required documentation.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents, teachers, and school administrators regarding program updates, student behavior, and any concerns.
  • Enforce all safety and security protocols, including emergency procedures, first aid practices, and health/hygiene standards.
  • Address behavioral, logistical, or staffing issues promptly and professionally, collaborating with others as needed to find effective resolutions.
  • Ensure program materials and supplies are well-maintained and appropriately stocked.
  • Support a positive and inclusive environment where all children and staff feel valued and respected.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in education, child development, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with children in a school, childcare, or after-school program setting.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and remain calm in high-pressure situations.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Must pass a background check and meet all state and local requirements for childcare staff.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm when school is in session with the opportunity to work additional hours.
