Job Summary

The program is an IOP providing substance abuse treatment and cognitive rehabilitative services to offenders under supervision. The program is an open-ended, ongoing treatment program. Offenders are in treatment for 8 weeks, 2 evenings a week, 3.5 hours an evening (9 treatment hours per week). The counselor facilitates the program curriculum for the evening program Mondays and Wednesdays and conducts individual treatment sessions during daytime hours. The caseload is 9 – 12 clients in the program at any given time. The counselor will provide individual treatment, including intake sessions, treatment planning, treatment plan reviews, treatment team meetings, and discharge sessions. Documentation is required on all offenders receiving services. Additional Substance Abuse Evaluations must be completed which are assigned to the counselor by management. Position is grant-funded.

Strong communication skills and computer skills are required. Applicants need to be efficient with typing.

The applicant may be required to travel additional days and times to other offices in the district as directed. The District consists of Caldwell, Comal, and Hays Counties.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience in counseling is preferred but not required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, be willing and able to drive department vehicles, including 15-passenger vans.
  • Be willing to work flexible hours as needed.
  • A qualified credentialed counselor, graduate or counselor intern working towards licensure who would qualify them to be a qualified credentialed counselor (QCC). A

QCC includes the following:

- Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC or LCDC-I), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC or LPC-A), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT or LMFT-A), Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Physician, Licensed counselor Intern working towards their licensure, Licensed Physician’s Assistant, Certified Addiction Registered Nurse, Licensed Psychological Associate.

- This department is a Clinical Training Institute for LCDC interns. Counselor Interns would be provided clinical supervision while they complete their 4000 supervised hours. Counselor Interns would receive salary and benefits while completing the supervised hours.

Work Schedule:

Off Friday – Sundays

Offender IOP Program Hours:

Monday 5:30 PM – 8:30 pm

Wednesday 5:30 PM – 8:30 pm

Benefits:

  • Salary: $50,000.00 per year / $46,500.00 for LCDC-Counselor Interns (LCDC-I with a bachelor's degree is paid the higher rate). Once LCDC I obtain full licensure, pay is increased. Applicants are expected to pursue and obtain licensure (LCDC)
  • 37.5-hour work week, 1-hour meal break daily
  • Vacation time, holidays, sick leave, birthday holiday
  • Schedule changes may occur due to training and coverage of other programs. Flex leave is approved due to schedule adjustments. The schedule may be adjusted depending on department needs. Friday - Sunday would remain scheduled days off.
