About Job

University of Minnesota Physicians is seeking casual Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants to join our team. The shifts will/could be on the following services: EmPath (Emergency Psychiatric Assessment, Treatment, and Healing) at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina; Emergency Consult at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis; Inpatient Adult Psychiatry at University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis; Consult Liaison Service at M Health Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville. In this role, you will join a team of multidisciplinary mental health specialists, including psychiatrists, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, licensed therapists, and psychiatric nurses in caring for patients with acute mental health issues. Responsibilities include determining the best level of care for patients, providing acute treatment for occurring crisis, assisting with discharge planning, working closely with ED providers in supporting mental health patients in the ED, providing consultative support to medical patients on-site and other facilities via telemedicine, completing comprehensive substance use disorder assessments, and providing basic alcohol and opioid withdrawal treatment. Schedule is casual with day, evening, and weekend shifts (6, 8, or 12-hour shifts) with no call. Requirements include graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant or formal Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner training program, eligibility or certification through NCCPA, ANCC or AANP, licensure or eligibility to acquire licensure and prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice (PAs) or MN APRN license (NPs), ability to meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges, and at least 2 years of psychiatry APP practice experience.
