North Providence Public Schools is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Long Term Substitute School Social Worker to join our team. This position will begin at the start of the 2025/2026 school year. The duration of this assignment is TBD. General Duties:
- Conduct Social Histories as part of the Special Education evaluation process.
- Prepare reports and other written documentation.
- Participate in Evaluation Team meetings, Response to Intervention meetings, and other school related messages.
- Coordinate Evaluation Team Meetings when necessary.
- Serve as the liaison between school, families, and community agencies.
- Work with families and school officials regarding truancy issues.
- Provide behavior management techniques/strategies to classroom teachers and students within the classroom setting as part of the Response to Intervention model and the IEP process.
- Provide individual and small group counseling according to IEP mandates and individual school needs.
- Provide consultation to parents, teachers, and other pertinent staff.
- Provide in-service training to staff.
- Attend out-of-district meetings when requested.
- Submit Medicaid claims in a timely manner.
- Participate in professional development activities.
- Respond to crisis intervention situations as needed.
- Write incident reports as needed.
- Make necessary calls to DCYF, complete reports and coordinate services.
- Attend school meetings with parents and staff to discuss social and emotional problems and assist in the development of a plan.
- Facilitate and coordinate school programs based on school needs. (ex bullying)
- Facilitate parent workshops as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Director of Student Services.
